What are Chinese Uppercase Numerals
Chinese uppercase numerals are a special form of Chinese numbers, mainly used in formal occasions such as finance, bills, contracts, etc., with the purpose of preventing numbers from being tampered with or forged. They are different from the Arabic numerals or ordinary Chinese numbers we usually use.
Rules
The rules for Chinese uppercase numerals are as follows:
- 零、壹、贰、叁、肆、伍、陆、柒、捌、玖 correspond to Arabic numerals 0-9 respectively.
- 拾、佰、仟、万、亿 correspond to Arabic numerals 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000000 respectively.
- 角、分 correspond to Arabic numerals 0.1, 0.01 respectively.
- Negative numbers need to start with the character “负”.
- Amounts need to end with the character “元”, separated by “角” and “分” in the middle.
